Company announces appointment of Dr. Justin L. Mortara to Chief Executive Officer

Milwaukee, September 25, 2008-  Today Mortara Instrument announced the appointment of Dr. Justin L. Mortara to the position of Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for all executive leadership and associated functional areas. Under this new structure, Mortara Instrument's founder, Dr. David W. Mortara, will continue to serve as President with an increased focus on new technology development and strategic initiatives for the company.


Dr. Justin Mortara is the second generation of the Mortara family to lead Mortara Instrument. Founded in 1982, the company today employs over 200 people worldwide and has annual revenues in excess of $50 million. Dr. Mortara most recently served as Vice President and previously served in a variety of roles within the company since 1998. He is the author of various publications and presentations related to ECG technology and algorithms, in particular their application to the evaluation of the cardiac safety of new drugs. Prior to joining Mortara Instrument, Dr. Mortara was employed as a Research Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California. He received his doctorate in physics from the University of California at Berkeley, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago.

Mortara Instrument, based in Milwaukee, has subsidiaries located in Australia, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands and markets it products worldwide. Its portfolio of non-invasive diagnostic cardiology products include resting electrocardiographs, cardiac stress exercise systems and Holter monitors. Mortara's products are used in both clinics and hospitals as well as in pharmaceutical trials requiring collection of ECG recordings. The company is one of the fastest growing in its sector and is a leading supplier of ECG systems to the U.S. government including contracts with both the FAA and FDA for the evaluation of commercial pilot flight readiness and the cardiac safety of new drugs respectively.
