Mortara Instrument, Inc. Acquires Majority Ownership in Dolby Medical Sales and Service UK

MILWAUKEE, WI–January 4, 2012–Mortara Instrument, Inc. announced today that it has acquired majority ownership in Dolby Medical Sales and Service UK, a leading provider of medical products and services in the United Kingdom.  Dolby Medical joins the Mortara organization as a subsidiary with the official name Mortara Dolby UK Ltd.

Mortara has a long-standing relationship with Dolby, who has served as their exclusive sales agent in the United Kingdom for many years.  In 2011, Dolby became Mortara’s largest independent distribution partner. Based in Stirling, Scotland and with 45 employees covering its medical and dental product lines in Scotland, England and Wales, Dolby brings with it over 40 years of knowledge and experience serving medical professionals.  The Dolby team has a strong reputation for exceptional sales and service, making it a preferred partner for many manufacturers competing in both the public and private segments of the UK market. 

Mortara considers this acquisition a key strategic opportunity through which it will increase its presence in the UK market.  Mortara will work together with the UK organization to expand sales of Mortara-branded products, while also maintaining a number of long-standing, complementary distribution relationships.  With Mortara Dolby UK, Mortara expects to achieve significant growth in its traditional diagnostic ECG product lines, as well as orchestrate the successful introduction of several entirely new product offerings.  “Our long-term relationship, combined with the strength of its management and sales teams, gives us a high degree of confidence in continuing our successes with Dolby” commented Brian Brenegan, Mortara’s Chief Operating Officer.
