Mortara Instrument to participate in 1st annual conference of the Clinical Engineering Association of Illinois

August 02, 2010

Featured speaker for DICOM, ECG Integration, and IHE Update

MILWAUKEE, WI-August 2, 2010-Barry Brown, Product Integration Manager for Mortara Instrument, will be speaking at the first annual conference of the Clinical Engineering Association of Illinois, Oak Brook, IL, August 25-27, 2010.  Mortara leads the industry in providing diagnostic ECG devices that interoperate with third party information systems using open standards.  Since 2006, Mortara products have supported the DICOM protocol to facilitate “plug-n-play”, bi-directional data exchange that healthcare providers have come to expect from their radiology devices.  During the IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise, www.ihe.net) 2009-2010 cycle, Barry led the effort to develop the new Resting ECG Workflow (REWF) profile.  The profile leverages IHE’s existing Scheduled Workflow profile and addresses the specific needs of resting ECG workflow within the hospital and physician office environments.  The new profile was published for trial implementation in July 2010.  In 2011, IHE will host a “Connectathon”, a week of data exchange testing between vendors at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, January 17-21.  IHE expects vendors will be testing their products’ conformance to the new REWF profile and releasing compliant products later that same year.  Barry will give an overview of IHE and a more detailed review of the new REWF profile and how DICOM plays an important role in resting ECG workflow.
