Quinton and Mortara Announce Technology Partnership for Telemetry

Bothell, WA and MILWAUKEE, WI, USA, 15 December 2000

Quinton Instrument Company and Mortara Instrument, Inc. today announced an agreement whereby Quinton will incorporate Mortara's medical telemetry and signal processing technologies into future product developments. Quinton will utilize both Mortara's proven 12- lead telemetry technology and advanced arrhythmia algorithms under the agreement.

David S. Buckles, PhD, FACC, Chief Technology Officer of Quinton commented on the agreement, "Partnering with Mortara gives Quinton access to world leading ECG technology that can be easily incorporated into our new systems architecture. As we enrich our product offering with these technologies, Quinton will continue to provide its customers with the quality products based on advanced technology and capabilities that they have come to expect." Regarding the telemetry technology itself, Buckles noted, "We are enthusiastic about incorporating Mortara's unique 12-lead telemetry capability that delivers both clinical and operational benefits for multiple clinical applications. Further, Mortara's advanced telemetry technology is already operating in a frequency band that is compliant with the recent FCC order on wireless medical telemetry. Therefore, our users can be assured that they will not experience any interference from emerging digital television stations in their areas."

Mortara first introduced its diagnostic 12-lead telemetry technology in 1993. Since that time, Mortara has incorporated the technology into various products for stress exercise testing, telemetry monitoring and resting ECG applications. Today, this technology is provided in a variety of form factors for both OEM customers and directly to clinicians.
