Mortara Instrument Next Generation Stress Exercise System, X-Scribe II Introduced

MILWAUKEE, WI USA
15 June 2001 -

Today Mortara Instrument, Inc. announced the release of its next generation stress exercise system, the X-Scribe II. The X-Scribe II is Mortara Instrument's latest advance for cardiac stress exercise solutions and builds upon the company's unique technology including the patented Source Consistency Filter and the X-12 wireless patient cable.

With the X-12 wireless patient cable, stress exercise testing with the X-Scribe II enjoys a new acquisition paradigm. The conventional, bulky patient cable of the past is replaced with the compact and lightweight X-12 transmitter. The X-12 provides wireless freedom of movement for the patient and clinician during general stress exercise tests as well as multi-modality studies such as stress-echo or nuclear examinations. The lightweight X-12 also reduces strain on electrodes and eliminates artifact due to traditional cable movement resulting in cleaner, high quality tracings.

The Windows-based X-Scribe II provides for numerous flexible configurations of screen displays, protocols, print formats and report handling. The enhanced user interface provides for multi-lead views, event captures, trends as well as the enlarged reference complex to highlight ischemic changes during exercise. In addition to the standard thermal writer, an optional laser printer output is also available. The laser printer option provides an economic alternative to the thermal writer technology through greatly reduced paper costs and the use of standard, of-the-shelf, printer solutions.

Maurizio Fumagalli, VP of Engineering for Mortara Instrument noted, "The X-Scribe II is built upon the accumulated feedback from both customers and distribution partners worldwide. The result is a very flexible system supporting multiple formats that facilitate efficient clinical workflow as well as a system designed for efficient distribution throughout the world. We are proud to launch this product for the international market and look forward to expanded distribution opportunities."

The X-Scribe II also features full disclosure review and storage as well as rhythm events review as standard options. Final reports can be exported to Abobe Acrobat PDF files for easy transport of data to a non-proprietary viewing platform. Regarding the final report capabilities of the system, Fumagalli noted, "The Windows operating system platform has afforded us an opportunity to present our users with a very intuitive user interface that is simple to learn, but also configurable to reflect individual clinician preferences. The X-Scribe II is a worthy successor to the X-Scribe product. We have taken the best of the predecessor product and extended its usability and flexibility to best meet our customers needs."

The X-Scribe II is not currently available for U.S. distribution.
