Technology That Meets Today’s Needs

Since its founding in 1982, Mortara Instrument has demonstrated leadership in ECG systems and solutions. The hallmarks of this leadership are products designed to address true clinical needs with innovative and advanced technologies. In this spirit, Mortara has delivered a number of ECG technology firsts, many of which bring unique benefits to the world of stress exercise.

In 1989, the first color stress exercise system, the X-Scribe, was introduced. Mortara's X-Scribe was the first stress exercise system to support a full color, real time display. With superimposed color median complexes, ischemic changes during the stress test exam were highlighted to ease clinical comparisons. Today, one can see the echo of this early innovation in a wide spectrum of different stress exercise systems.

In 1993, Mortara changed the acquisition paradigm for stress exercise systems with the creation of a wireless solution. The X-12 transmitter provides true diagnostic 12-lead acquisition for stress exercise without the cumbersome and bulky traditional stress exercise harness. To this day, no other company has successfully followed this leadership example.

With the introduction of the Source Consistency Filter (SCF) in 1996, Mortara advanced the state of the art for real time diagnostic ECG filters. For the demanding clinical environment of stress exercise, the patented SCF delivers superior noise and artifact reduction without any compromise in the underlying ECG frequency response. The result for today is exceptionally clean and easily read traces without any reduction of sensitivity to cardiac ischemia.

Clinically Significant Tools

Today, Mortara offers the X-Scribe II stress exercise system as its latest innovation. The X-Scribe II enjoys the vision of Mortara's technology leadership, the unique X-12 solution for wireless stress exercise and a flexible and easily customized interface that meets the varying needs of different clinical scenarios.

A few of X-Scribe II's advanced features include a color graphic auto-comparison with superimposed current and reference complexes, continuous screen presentation of ST level and slope for all 12 average complexes, J-ST delay change and re-analysis, and an interface to automatic blood pressure measurements. The post-test playback allows full disclosure review of the entire test at user selectable speeds.

Increased Efficiency and Cost Savings

The X-Scribe II offers configurable user profiles and the improved editing capabilities Windows® provides to make the entire testing and reporting process more efficient. One-hundred full disclosure patient studies may be stored in internal memory, and the X-Scribe II allows the user to print using a high-speed laser printer to significantly reduce paper expenses. In order to facilitate the timely distribution of test results, non-proprietary Adobe Acrobat® PDF technology is used to create a portable electronic file that can be e-mailed for convenient review. This provides easy access to final report data without additional software expense.

X-12 Digital Transmitter

The X-12 wirelessly transmits diagnostic quality 12-lead ECG data to the X-Scribe II stress system without a traditional
patient cable. Artifact due to the sag and strain of bulky conventional cables is eliminated, resulting in exceptionally clean tracings. In addition, the wireless mobility provided by the X-12 digital transmitter allows for seamless integration with stress echo and nuclear studies. A lightweight, traditional digital patient cable (Mortara M-12) is also available.

Advanced Signal Processing

The X-Scribe II utilizes Mortara Instrument’s patented Source Consistency Filter (SCF) to provide exceptionally clean ECG recordings without compromising the diagnostic quality ECG data. The SCF utilizes the inherent redundancy in the 12 lead ECG to measure consistency among the various leads. Just as a clinician can discern artifact from true signal by looking at multiple leads, the SCF performs a real-time analysis to do the same, resulting in clean ECG recordings with no distortion of the true underlying signal.
